From Draft to Craft: Generative Writing Workshop at the Mill Valley Library

This fall and winter I’m teaching From Draft to Craft, a *free* generative writing workshop at the lovely Mill Valley Library. Each week we’ll focus on a particular craft element through an illustrative novel, story, essay, or memoir excerpt, using related prompts as jumping-off points for our generative writing. After the generative session, you can share what you’ve written and get feedback from me and fellow workshop members (or not!). Classes meet every other Monday from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm. Our weekly topics are:
9/22 – POV and Perspective
10/6 – Interior and Exterior Conflict
10/20 – Setting
11/3 – Scene vs. Summary
11/17 – Dialogue
12/1 – Image, Metaphor, Motif
12/15 – Climaxes and Voltas
Sign up here through the Mill Valley Library. All levels and genres are welcome; the goal is to deepen our collective knowledge of craft and lean into our ugly and brilliant first drafts. Drop me a note if you have any questions.
